Manny Pacquiao Next Fight News: ‘Pacman’ Not Taking Chris Algieri Lightly; Filipino Boxing Star Calls Out Floyd Mayweather

Manny Pacquiao next fight news indicated that the Filipino boxing icon is preparing hard for his upcoming showdown against Chris Algieri on Nov. 22 at Venetian Resort in Macau, China.

Pacquiao, the reigning World Boxing Organization welterweight champion, will be a heavy favorite in their fight, but the Filipino boxing icon insisted that there is no room for complacency.

The former pound-for-pound king said that Algieri is a good boxer and is taller than him, which makes him believe that he needs a lot of time to prepare for the unbeaten challenger.

"I'm not taking Algieri lightly. He's taller than me and moves around the ring with savvy. That's why I started my training early," Pacquiao said in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news.

Buboy Fernandez, Pacquiao's long-time assistant trainer, echoed his fighter's statement, saying that they have been working hard in the gym to improve Pacquiao's footwork and prepare their fight plan. Fernandez agreed that Algieri is fast, but he is confident that Pacquiao can handle him.

"Algieri uses the ring well and he loves to lean on the ropes. We must devise a strategy to counter this," Fernandez said. "He's fast, but not as fast as Timothy Bradley. So he can be an easy target for our boxer."

If Pacquiao wins against Algieri, the eight-division champion will move closer to landing a bout against Floyd Mayweather Jr., who recently improved his record to 47-0 with a win against Marcos Maidana.

Mayweather recently said that he is open to facing Pacquiao, but the 35-year-old Filipino insisted that Floyd Jr. should stop talking, and fight him instead.

"He's all talk. Until now he has not yet agreed to fight me. Instead of blabbing, he should face me atop the ring," Pacquiao said in a Manny Pacquiao next fight news on The National.

Previous negotiations went down because both parties failed to reach a common ground. But for Pacquiao, Mayweather should just stop making excuses and make the fight happen to give the fans the showdown that they have been longing for.

"I'm tired of his alibis. If he really wants to fight me, he knows how to reach me. We can fight anytime, anywhere," said Pacquiao, who has been calling out Mayweather over the past several months.
