Tiger Woods Return Update: Woods Not Planning To Hire Swing Coach Soon; Butch Harmon Says ‘Tiger’ Doesn’t Need One

Tiger Woods return update indicated that the golf superstar has no plans to acquire a new swing coach soon, while his former mentor, Butch Harmon, said that Tiger doesn't need to hire one.

In a recent statement posted on his official website, Woods said that he is not yet thinking about finding a new coach after parting ways with Sean Foley in August.

Woods said that he is focused on regaining his health, while also revealing that he may not hire a coach at all before returning to action in December.

"As for my coaching situation, there is no hard-and-set rule on this. I may just do it on my own," he said in a Tiger Woods return update. "I'm keeping my options very, very open. I need to get healthy first before I start back and see how I feel. That's the No. 1 concern. And from there, then I can start deciding where I want to go with it."

Woods and Foley mutually agreed to end their working relationship last month after failing to win a major since teaming up in 2010, creating speculations that the American golf icon is eyeing a reunion with either Butch Harmon or Hank Haney.

Harmon, who coached Woods when he was just starting to make noise in the golfing circuit until 2002, recently said that he is not expecting a call from the 38-year-old, while also reiterating that Tiger can be his own coach.

"I would not and he's not going to call and ask," Harmon said when asked about a reunion in a Tiger Woods return update on Golf.com. "I don't think he needs a swing coach. If I were advising Tiger I'd tell him, 'You're the greatest player that ever lived, just go to the range and hit shots."

Woods announced last month that he is planning to take a rest for one to two months before returning in the Hero World Challenge in December. The Cypress, California native said that his strength is back and he is hoping that he can start swinging again before the end of the month.

"I'm feeling great. I've been home and with my kids a lot, and haven't swung a club yet, but I have done some shadow swings in the mirror," Woods wrote. "I'm hoping to swing a club later this month or early next, but we'll see how it goes. I got my strength back and need to get my explosiveness back before I start."
