While iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 plus are enjoying the iOS 8 features, older iPhone model users are in apparent frustration when updating their gadgets into Apple's latest software.

According to BBC News, some iPhone and iPad users have expressed their annoyance on installing iOS 8, which needs at least 5 GB of memory storage.

With this huge required storage, some Apple users have resorted to deleting their photos, videos, and other files in order to keep up with new operating system, the report added.

TIME noted that while the iPhone 4s, which was released in October 2011, can still install Apple's new mobile operating system, it is also important to remember that iOS 8 is designed for iPhone 6 having its fast processor.

Some of the Apple users expressed their frustrations online in updating their smartphones to experience iOS 8 features.

Twitter user Erik posted: "Having iOS 8 on an iPhone 4S really puts into perspective how much I need a new phone"

Sam Murphy Kelly wrote on her Twitter: "If anything, the 5.7 GB requirement to update to iOS 8 is a friendly reminder from Apple that you may need to splurge for the 64GB next time"

Another Twitter user named Tweet Edochie said: "Why do i need space to install ios8 but didn't need space when they put U2's 11 track album on my phone?!"

This is not the first time an update from Apple had faced difficulty, BBC News noted.

In 2012, some Apple users had to lose their apps so as to update their smartphones into an iOS6. A year after, the iOS7 update made users lose their photos and messages.

BBC News added that due to a bug, iOS 8 HealthKit software has been removed, which is designed to work with third-party wearable health devices.
