Twitter Accused of Mismanagement

Sep 21, 2014 08:53 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Peter Thiel, who is one of the early investors of Facebook recently gave a scathing interview. The billionaire targeted microblogging giant Twitter and its management. Thiel accused Twitter of being grossly mismanaged and that its employees are all smoking pot. He said that the management of the company is doing things horribly wrong.

Thiel went on to say that the pot smoking of the employees is probably behind the problem with the company. But even with everything that's wrong with the company, Thiel said that it might still work.

It must be noted that Thiel did not offer any solid evidence to his accusation that Twitter is mismanaged or even to the accusation that its employees are using pot. Though Twitter has been struggling with management issues since it became a public company at the latter half of 2013. The company was also rocked by controversy when its COO resigned last June. The high-profile resignation has prompted rumors that there is a struggle at the top-level in the company.

Thiel isn't the first one to accuse Twitter of mismanagement. A reporter who wrote a book about the company said  that its employees staged a pot-fueled party in its cafeteria. Thiel places the blame on the founders of the company. He said that they did things badly when they shaped the overall culture of the company.

Thiel said that things might be too late for the company to change. He said that the company would have to fire everybody in order to start anew and that would be too complicated to do. But Thiel didn't single out Twitter. He also threw some strong accusations against Apple and other tech companies. He said that the new products of Apple are not going to have the same impact as the other game-changers that the company had in the past.
