Samsung has launched the Desktop monitor SD590C, a 27-inch 1080p display with a curved panel with a price tag of $429.99.

The South Korean-based electronics company's Vice president for Marketing Ron Gazzola says that the SD590C's design was "carefully engineered to draw you into the display and truly make you feel part of the content."

Samsung claims that the curved design gives the display a wider field of view but also matches the natural curves of human's eyes, reducing the effort it takes to see content that is located along the edges of the display and thereby reducing "peripheral visual clutter."

Samsung's newest innovation has a silver metal stand that lets the panel tilt from -2 to +20 degrees. The monitor sports a 1080p resolution and a 16:9 aspect ratio.

The monitor also lets users conveniently change its settings through a joystick-like button.

The monitor supports several connectivity options; one VGA, one DisplayPort and one HDMI port. It also sports two integrated five-watt speakers. Other monitors reportedly sporting the integrated audio only offer between two to four-watt ranges.

Samsung's latest curved monitor is based on a VA (vertical alignment) LED-backlit LCD panel with a maximum brightness of 350 cd/m2 (candelas per square meter), gray-to-gray response rate of 4ms and a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz.

The SD590C can be available as it starts shipping on Oct. 1.

The SD590C will target those who want an "immersive" experience like gamers and movie fanatics.

Users can turn the "Game Mode" on which is reported to improve the color and automatically adjust the contrast to adapt to changes in the environment. Game Boost does the same thing for a game's soundtracks, significantly improving sound effects and voices above background music façade.

Other competitors like Asus, Acer, Lenovo offer quality displays for much less than Samsung's latest offering, but Samsung reportedly believes that it is well worth it for people to spend a little bit of extra for the innovative curved display.
