Amanda Bynes Arrested For DUI Charges Again; Drug Problems Resurface

Sep 30, 2014 05:45 AM EDT | By Staff Reporter

After being off the radar for sometime, Amanda Bynes makes headlines once again for getting arrested over a DUI charge.

According to a report from CNN, Amanda Bynes was charged with DUI on Sunday in Sherman Oaks, California.

The former Nickelodeon star was reportedly spotted by police officers as she was driving her white Mercedes Benz SUV on Riverside Drive.

The actress was pulled over and do what was requested of her without struggle. She was then asked to take a series of sobriety tests, which she failed.

In 2012, Bynes was arrested for DUI charges following a road incident in West Hollywood.

While many celebrities have been arrested for the same case, a report from Hollywood Life suggested that there might be an underlying problem with Bynes' supposed use of controlled substances.

A source reportedly told Holywood Life that Bynes' family is in denial of the actress' situation. "Denial, denial, denial. Not only is Amanda in denial over the severity of her ongoing problems, but so is her family," the source claimed. "There's this same attached to mental illness, so unfortunately it's not treated and it only gets worse. If Amanda was a diabetic, wouldn't she be given the proper treatment? Of course she would."

In 2013, Bynes was reportedly admitted to a hospital and was placed on a 5150 hold - an involuntary psychiatric hold - after police discovered her by a fire she had started in her parents' neighbor's driveway. She was later transferred to a private facility and reportedly had six months of treatment before getting discharged and given to her parents' care.

Bynes' lawyer, Tamar Arminak, had released a statement regarding the actress' mental health condition in April 2014, saying: "There has been much speculation about Amanda's medical condition. She has remained silent because she believed it was best to keep her mental health diagnosis private."

Amanda Bynes will reportedly be on court on October 23 to face new DUI charges.
