Hateful Eight Cast News: Tarantino Wants Vigo Mortensen In His Latest Spaghetti Western Flick;

Oct 24, 2014 12:00 PM EDT | By Fred Yelland

An article in Screen Rant reports that Tarantino wants "Lord of The Rings" actor Vigo Mortensen in his latest film. New York Daily (via SR) claims to have seen the two discussing the upcoming project.

A film that almost got shelved earlier in the year, 'Hateful Eight' has now been announced to continue, with its production to start in early 2015.

Despite news that he was shelving the project because agents of a circle of actors, which he gave the script to, apparently had leaked it. Here's a statement he made earlier in January:

"I'm very, very depressed," Tarantino said. "I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out today."

Here's a sum up of the the leaked script via The Wrap:

"The script is an ensemble Western with obvious parts for Madsen and Dern, as well as Tarantino stalwarts like Samuel L. Jackson and Christoph Waltz. Jackson and Madsen would likely both play bounty hunters returning human plunder to a town called Red Rock in exchange for hefty rewards. Their characters, a former major in the Union army and a man named John Ruth, dominate the first two of the script's five chapters.

They run into a Southerner named Chris Mannix on the road, and three of them, along with their driver - a living prisoner and three dead bounties strapped to the roof - arrive at a haberdashery to take shelter from an oncoming blizzard. Yet the proprietors, Minnie, Sweet Dave and her other colleagues, are nowhere to be found. In their place are four men, a Southern general (likely Dern), an alleged hangman, a Frenchman named Bob and a cowboy named Joe Gage.

Tarantino has now confirmed the news as the last speaker for San Diego's Comic Con that he was in talks with The Weinstein Company for the movie that will star Samuel L. Jackson, Michael Madsen, Bruce Dern, Kurt Russell, James Remar, Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins and Zoe Bell."

The title has since been teased, cancelled, revived and then officially announced within a year with a trailer to boot. A scan of theposter also appeared at Empire Magazine's website, revealing that the movie will be entirely shot on film in 70mm Super CinemaScope. Here's another image from the Weinstein Company's website confirming the news of the trailer to appear at the 'Sin City 2' premiere.

Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For premiered on August 22 in the US.
