Marvel Black Widow Movie Confirmed? Scarlett Johansson Gives Birth To A Baby Girl!

Oct 31, 2014 09:32 PM EDT | By Cindy Wallace

It seems that the Marvel Black Widow movie is indeed happening, but not anytime soon.

According to designntrend.com,

"Comic Book Resources reports that a film starring Black Widow, the superhero spy also known as Natasha Romanov, was in development with Lionsgate back in 2004 - a good five years before Scarlett Johansson signed on for the role. The film's screenplay was penned by 'X-Men' and 'X2' writer David Hayter, who was also set to direct, before the studio decided, unsurprisingly, that a female-led superhero film was too much of a risk.

'Unfortunately, as I was coming up on the final draft, a number of female vigilante movies came out,' Hayter told CBR a few years ago. 'We had 'Tomb Raider' and 'Kill Bill,' which were the ones that worked, but then we had 'Blood Rayne' and 'Ultraviolet' and 'Aeon Flux.' 'Aeon Flux' didn't open well, and three days after it opened, the studio said, 'We don't think it's time to do this movie.'

This, of course, is the same explanation Marvel has offered up as to why a 'Marvel Black Widow Movie' solo isn't right - ten years later."

As previously reported, "Avengers" star Scarlett Johansson and fiancé Romain Dauriac have recently welcomed a new addition to their house. A bouncing baby girl named Rose!

According to Associated Press, Johansson's representative, Marcel Pariseu, has already confirmed the news. Telling them that both Johansson and her new daughter are doing well recovering from the delivery.

Following this news, there are recent developments with Scarlett's other character in her upcoming movie, "The Avengers 2." Reports have confirmed that Johansson's character, Black Widow, will be sporting a new costume in the second installment of the Marvel Movie. According toKpopstarz,

"JoBlo spilled the beans saying that Black Widow will be featuring a 'TRON-style' look the will feature an all new 'widow sting' superpowers. Reports claim that this change of costume suggests a preparation for Scarlett Johansson's standalone film. During an interview with Don Kaye of Screen Rant, the actress was asked if she wanted to have her standalone film as the heroine 'Black Widow,' to which she answered:

'You know, there's always the possibility in this kind of Marvel madness that, you know, anything could happen, and a lot of these spin-offs are really like fan-driven, you know, kind of audience-driven, which is great because if the audience wants it, then you know that it's built in in a way and people are excited to see it. Not feeding them they're not into. So if the audience wants something like that and we could really, you know, carve out a great story for her that's a continuation of what we already know, then I'd be totally for it. I mean, she's definitely got -the material is there, you know, and I'm, you know, I'm always willing to slip the suit back on and power through it, you know, if people want to see it.'"
