Marvel fans got excited when the announcement of a Captain Marvel movie happening came in, as revealed by Marvel and Walt Disney. This is the first female superhero movie by Marvel, and is said to be one of the most anticipated movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Whatever fueled their decision to finally come up with a Captain Marvel movie, it is believed that one of the reasons is the growing sales numbers of "Ms. Marvel" comics' current run, written by G. Willow Wilson. As posted by Diamond Comics in their list of best-selling graphic novels and paperbacks from distributors for the month of October, "Ms. Marvel" comics is the top seller. Although the story and main character is entirely different from the original Captain Marvel comics, it is still a good indication that fans and readers of both comics will definitely see this new film from Marvel.
The Studio's President, Kevin Faige, however, has clarified that the said movie will have Carol Danvers (the original Captain Marvel) as the lead character, not Kamala Khan (from Ms. Marvel comics). At least, that one is clear, so that fans will be able to manage their expectations as early as now. Although the film is not coming out until 2018, Marvel fans are expecting that Carol Danvers will make an appearance in one or more of the listed Marvel movies before her own spin-off arrives.
Furthermore, the biggest question by Captain Marvel fans now is who will take on the role of the said female superhero. Some have been hinting they want to see The Zero dark Thirty actress Jessica Chastain to play Carol Danvers, but in a recent interview with the actress, she said she never had any talks with Marvel Studios regarding the said movie. Another potential candidate is Vikings actress Katheryn Winnick, who just posted on Instagram an art made by one of her fans that featured her as Captain Marvel.
