Sony and Nokia Showdown: Xperia Z3 versus Lumia 830 Specs and Features Compared; Sony’s 2014 Flagship Smartphone Appears Superior

September has been a big month for Apple as it launched its new iPhone 6 series. But during the same month, Sony and Nokia also unveiled their new flagship smartphones that are equally tech advance as the Apple's newest flagship handset.

If you are one of those smartphone users who were not captivated by the biggest iPhone, you can include Sony Xperia Z3 and Nokia Lumia 830 in your options. But before you go to your nearest physical or online store, you better check out the tale of the tape first between these two top caliber handset.

Both Nokia Lumia 830 and Sony Xperia Z3 share some features that make them both compact and affordable. But it is still better to know the two handsets deeper. So here is the comparative article about Lumia 830 and Xperia Z3's specifications and feature.

The Japan-based tech conglomerate equipped its newest flagship phone with a bigger 5.2-inch screen compared to Nokia's 5-inch display, as compared. Xperia is also sharper with 1080 x 1920 resolution which translates to 424 ppi. Lumia 830, on the other hand has IPS LCD display with 720 x 1280 pixels and 294 ppi.

Design wise, Xperia Z3 is the bigger smartphone at 146.5 x 72 x 7.3 mm compared to 139.4 x 70.7 x 8.5 mm dimension. Because it is the smaller handset, Lumia 830 is relatively lighter compared to Sony's 2014 flagship phone, 150 grams versus 163 grams. Meanwhile, Sony's latest is both water and dust proof.

In terms of hardware, the Android Kitkat powered handset sports faster 250 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad core processor. Lumia 830, a Windows 8.1 handset, is equipped with a relatively inferior quad core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 clocked at 120 GHz. Xperia Z3 has a bigger 3GB RAM also versus Nokia's 1GB RAM. Both smartphones have 16GB internal storage capacity. They also have micro SD slot that allows expansion up to 128 GB.

As the maker of Cyber shot camera, Sony made sure that Xperia Z3 will be superior in the snapper area. While Lumia 830 has 10MP rear facing camera, Sony's flagship smartphone has a whopping 20.7MP main snapper. While both phones have LED Flash and Digital Zoom, Japan-based smartphone also has better 2.2MP selfie cam compared to Nokia's 1MP front snapper.

Sony Xperia Z3 is again the winner when it comes to power source showdown as it is powered by 3100 mAh Li-ion which has a longer life compared to Nokia Lumia's 2200 mAh battery. Because Sony Xperia Z3 is clearly the better top caliber smartphone, it costs almost twice as the Nokia Lumia 830.
