Dead Or Alive 5: Last Round Release Date: Team Ninja Announces New Characters -- 'RAIDOU IS BACK'!

Nov 22, 2014 03:00 AM EST | By Staff Reporter

Team Ninja has officially announced the last fighter for Dead or Alive 5: Last Round-Raidou.

Raidou, utilises the Mugen Tenshin style of Ninjutsu, while taking techniques he's stolen from other fighters.

Unlike the other Mugen Tenshin practitioners - Kasumi and Hayate - Raidou is said to make the most of his build; fusing the style with his unique power and size.

"After being killed by an explosion during the First Dead or Alive Tournament, Raidou was pieced back together, outfitted with cybernetic parts, and brought back to life by Donovan. As a side effect he has lost all memories of his past, and retains only his natural lust for power."

Dead or Alive or DOA is a fighting game in the Dead or Alive series, developed by Team Ninja in partership with Sega AM2 and released by Tecmo Koei simultaneously for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in September 2012.

Dead or Alive 5 features 19 recurring characters from the series as playable fighters, each with Japanese and English voice actors. Some of the famous ones are:

Kasumi (voiced by Houko Kuwashima and Lauren Landa), a Japanese runaway female ninja and the series' main protagonist, currently looking to defeat her DOATEC-created weaponized clone, Alpha-152.

Ayane (voiced by Wakana Yamazaki and Brittney Harvey), a Japanese kunoichi and Kasumi's half-sister who regards Kasumi as a traitor for breaking their shinobi code and continues to hunt her.

Hayate (voiced by Hikaru Midorikawa and Yuri Lowenthal), the Japanese leader of the Mugen Tenshin clan and Kasumi's brother. He was once briefly known as Ein when he lost his memory after having been used as a guinea pig for Project Epsilon.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round was announced to be released for the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It will have a digital-only release for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 and a physical release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Also, Team Ninja is set to release Dead or Alive: Core Fighters; an entry into the free-to-play fighting scene, which will be supported by microtransactions and DLC packs.

Dead or Alive 5: Last Round and Dead or Alive: Core Fighters will both be release in North America on February 17, 2015, and in Europe on February 20, 2015.
