Recently Benedict Cumberbatch and Sophia Hunter engagement was announced in a newspaper ad in U.K Times as reported by Tech Post that reads:

"The engagement is announced between Benedict, son of Wanda and Timothy Cumberbatch of London, and Sophie, daughter of Katharine Hunter of Edinburgh and Charles Hunter of London."

Sophie and Benedict made their first publuc appearance in NYC at the premiere of The Imitation Game on Monday.

It was the first time that we had a glimpse if if the alleged £300,000 engagement ring adorned with at least a hundred if diamonds.

According to MailOnline diamond and jewellery expert Lewis Malka told the website that:

" 'Sophie Hunter must feel like the ultimate dream fianceé right now. Not only has she found one of Hollywood's hottest leading actors, but it would seem she has one of the most sought after engagement ring designs too."

" 'This original vintage design that Tiffany's Legacy ring, the ring that has inspired others to imitate, looks stunning on her hand. It represents the Edwardian period and is set with a gorgeous square cushion cut central diamond and adorned with up to 100 smaller diamonds all around the head, bezel and shank. It looks like the ring is set with a three and a half carat central diamond and is probably worth in the region of £300,000."

Who is Sophie Hunter anyway?

Sophie Hunter, 36, grew up in Hammersmith, west London as the eldest of five children. Her father Charles was an insurance executive who later became a professional card player, while her mother Sophie worked as an administrator. Her parents are now divorced.

Hunter has also had a number of small roles in film and TV, including the 2004 Vanity Fair, in which she starred alongside Reese Witherspoon, as well as TV's Torchwood and Midsomer Murders .(via TechPost)

Cumberbatch in a recent interview said: " 'I'm very happy. I'm a very happy man. I have a great population of fans as well - they're smart, they'll get around to the idea. ... Your ovaries do still have use, let me tell you!'"
