Crate and Barrel announced that as part of their customer service and to better enhance the experience, they have introduced their 3D Room Designer, allowing consumers to get a better and nearly real-life perspective of what their homes would look like with the company's products.

The new 3D Room Designer will be available beginning June 27 at Crate and Barrel stores across the country, and will require a digital photo from the consumer of the room or area they want changed with Crate and Barrel products, said a press release issued by Crate and Barrel on Friday.

By merely supplying the photo, the 3D Room Designer will turn that image into a 3D room model, and from there consumers can pick and choose what kind of products - including appliances and dinnerware - that they would like to see in their homes, noted the press release. Furnishing and colors can be altered in a person's home with the technology featured with 3D Room Designer, which would eliminate the need of a floor plan.

"At Crate and Barrel we continue to invest in the latest technical tools that enhance the overall shopping experience. Through the 3D Room Designer our customers can discover and explore the many decoration solutions Crate and Barrel offers for their home," John Seebeck, Crate and Barrel VP of eCommerce, was quoted as saying for the press release.

Customers bring in the photos, either by hand or email, and note the height of the room and widget of an object on a wall for depth perception in order to activate the 3D Room Designer program, noted the press release. From there, Crate and Barrel employees, with a touch of a mouse, will be able to see products in their room, be allowed to play with fabrics, and even change the overall layout of the room, the press release said. Over 2,000 Crate and Barrel objects will be incorporated into the 3D Room Designer program.

The Crate and Barrel 3D Room Designer will be available on the company's website in fall 2012 and as an iPad app by early 2013, the press release stated.
