Paradox Studio's upcoming successor to "Hearts of Iron III" is now months from launch, and the developer is committed to unleashing the strategy game no later. "Hearts of Iron IV" details have surfaced online including release date, gameplay and news including a teaser trailer revealing the developer's tank development inspiration. Here's what's available so far.

"Hearts of Iron IV" release date has been initially set for a vague "before 2020" and now, Paradox Studio has at least set an intended Q1 2015 release date. This may be a big jump of five years, but fans of the grand strategy game are hyped and ecstatic about the development.

"Hearts of Iron III" was released in 2009 and although lacking in interface, gamers still flocked towards the video game. Among the many criticisms of "Hearts of Iron IV" successor is shared by Gamepro, "perhaps the worst problem is the interface itself, or more specifically, the amount of feedback it affords the player. In contrast to the old system, there is no instant way to assess how many divisions you have in each province, nor important values like their units' organization or combat values."

Paradox Studio promises to solve this issue upon the "Hearts of Iron IV" release date, stressing that "When we make ["Hearts of Iron IV"] there will be better AI and better accessibility. It won't be dumbed down though... but that weather system we made for HOI3 will never see the light of day again," shares Paradox's Johan Andersson in a Reddit thread.

Developers emphasize that big changes are being made to "Hearts of Iron IV" as gameplay is demonstrated in the teaser trailer released. Recently, the developers also unleashed a developer diary video documenting the weapons that inspired the tanks available upon the "Hearts of Iron IV" release date.

In this developer diary video for "Hearts of Iron IV", Project Lead Dan Lind takes the audiences to a tour around an "Arsenalen" museum in Sweden and explains more than the tanks, but also how battles were won using the quality vs. quantity tactic.

"Hearts of Iron IV" features a "real-time simulation of war" for Mac, Windows and Linux. Release date for "Hearts of Iron IV" is set for Q1 of 2015. Stay tuned for updates on release date. Meanwhile, watch the developer diary video on the tanks created for "Hearts of Iron IV" here.
