Actor Chris Hemsworth Returns In Upcoming Thor:Ragnarok; Movie Marks The End Of All Major Characters?

Nov 27, 2014 02:41 PM EST | By Josh Samuel

Now that Australian actor Chris Hemsworth was recently hailed as the "Sexiest Man Alive" of 2014 by People's Magazine, fans couldn't wait to see him again on the big screen! He will take part of the Avengers:Age of Ultron come May 1, 2015, plus his third Thor movie in 2017.

Speaking of Thor: Ragnarok, one of the movie's writers Christopher Yost took to Twitter last November 6 in dropping some hints that it will be the end of major characters in the said movie. The writer wrote, " Ragnarok is the end of all things.  What are we supposed to do, let people live?!11:53 AM - 6 Nov 2014." Thor fans will definitely be devastated if this is true!

For those who are not hardcore Marvel fans, "Ragnarok" is a term used in the original comics which literally means "the end of the universe." And in the plot, we can read of a huge battle between creatures from the Nine Realms, which include Fenris Wolf, the Midgard Serpent and your run-of-the-mill Gods, Giants, Demons and Elves. It's even more like the battle to end all battles, if you're can call it that. In the original story, Ragnarok marks the end of many characters, which includes the god of thunder Thor.

As for the movie franchise, it is still in the writing and planning stage but the twitter post of Yost and the movie's title are definite giveaways in terms of what we should expect from the film's 3rd installment. "This is a very important movie for us in Phase 3. We plan on taking Thor to another level. It picks up where we leave Thor in 'Avengers: Age of Ultron' and impacts everything that comes after," Marvel Studios President Kevin Faige said during the announcement of the Marvel Phase 3 movies last month.

Thor: Ragnarok is scheduled to open on July 28, 2017.
