HTC Desire series is known for its decent specs and a tough rival of other mid-ranger flagships  from other phone manufacturer.

The most popular or these Desire phones is the HTC Desire 820. It is the first mid-range phone from HTC to boast a 64-bit processor alongside with its HTC 820q dualism variant.

Design and Screen

The HTC Desire 820 and HTC Desire 820q features  the same Corning Gorilla  display  of 5.5 inches and a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels and  the same dimensions  of 157.7 x 78.7 x 7.7mm and weighs around 155grams. Clad in a glossy polycarbonate and metal unibody aluminum design.

HTC Desire 816 has the dimensions of 156.6×78.7×7.9mm and boasts a smaller screen size of 5.5inches LCD screen that supports 1280x720pixels with 267ppi. In terms of its design, it sports a matte polycarbonate casing and available in six pastel colors.

Hardware and OS

HTC Desire 820 and 820q share the same 64-bit processor which gives it an advantage in comparison to other mid-range phones, but under their hoods they vary in RAM and chipset.

The Desire 820 is powered by an octa-core with a quad-core 1.5 GHz Cortex-A53 and quad core  1GHz Cortex-A53 CPU. It is supported by a Qualcomm MSM8939 Snapdragon 615 chipset and has 2 GB of RAM. While, Desire 820q is powered by  1.2 GHz Snapdragon 410 quad core  processor with 1 GB DDR2 RAM.

The Desire 816 is powered by a 32-bit Snapdragon 400 chip with a 1.6 GHz quad-core processor that couples with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1.5GB of RAM.

All of these three phones share  the same internal memory of 16GB, the Desire 820 allows more external storage up to 128GB through a MicroSD.

All three smartphones run on Android 4.4.4 KitKat, skinned with HTC's Sense 6 UI, but most likely, the Desire 820 and 820q will receive the Lollipop update sooner than the Desire 816, The Fuse Joplin said in  a report.

Camera

The three phones sports a  13 mega pixel  13MP  with autofocus rear camera with f/2.2 lens, BSI sensor, HDR and LED flash that allows users  to shoot 1080p videos at 30 fps on Desire  820q and Desire 820. Meanwhile, the 8MP front facing camera can capture decent self-portrait photo for the 'selfie' fanatics and a 5MP front snapper on the Desire 816
