Olympics 2012: US Water Polo Team & Jamba Juice Team Up to Fight Childhood Obesity

Jamba Juice and the USA Water Polo and Olympic Medalists, and the 2012 United States Olympic Water Polo players have come together to fight against childhood obesity through the Jamba Team Up for a Healthy America initiative.

Polo players and Olympians Peter Varellas, Merrill Moses, Heather Petri, and Kelly Rulon began the promotional of the program on Friday by participating in a water polo clinic for children from Los Angeles Unified School District, said a press release issued by Jamba Juice on Thursday. During the event Jamba Juice donated water polo balls to 12 schools in the region.

"Our goal with the 'Team Up for a Healthy America' campaign is to inspire everyone to want to lead healthier and more active lives," Julie Washington, Chief Brand Officer, Jamba Juice Company, stated for the press release. "USA Water Polo's partnership on this important program demonstrates their commitment to inspire our youth to get active and understand the importance of good nutrition and eating healthier."

Jamba Juice urged people nationwide to take part in the "Team Up for a Healthy America" program by signing up to the official website, as well as taking part in weekly health pledges and reinforcing in the initiative's message that small changes in every day activities can greatly benefit personal living styles, noted the press release. And for every pledged made on the My Health Pledge website, Jamba Juice will donate $1 towards to purchase of athletic equipment for schools nationwide.

"USA Water Polo is grateful for Jamba Juice's support of scholastic water polo programs here in Southern California," Jennifer Rottenberg, Chief Marketing Officer, USA Water Polo, was quoted as stating for the press release. "We joined Jamba Juice last year during the inaugural launch of the 'Team Up' program and it is exciting to see the immediate impact of the program in the water polo community by being able to provide  increased opportunities for deserving student-athlete water polo players to have access to better equipment."
