Wesley Snipes Wants "Twilight Kids' In Blade 4 Reboot; Should The Actor Do Another Installment After 2004's Unsuccessful Blade Trinity?

Dec 12, 2014 05:51 AM EST | By Fred Yelland

Wesley Snipes was asked if he was up to reprise his role as the vampire slaying daywalker in a Blade 4 reboot: His answer "yeah, if the script was right". Not suprising, since the last film, 2004's Blade: Trinity underperforming at the box office, branded by fans as the most unsuccessful installment of the franchise and even worse with the critics.

New Line Cinema five years ago was interested in resurrecting the franchise, but eventually scrapped the idea. Marvel Studios then went on and reacquired the film rights.

But it seems that Marvel Entertainment wont be making any moves soon, making only two to three films per year and with all the characters in their library. More licensed characters, less films.

Screen Rant puts it this way: "If Marvel owned Spider-Man and X-Men for instance, you'd never get your recent record-breaking hit known as Guardians of the Galaxy."

Marvel currently owns properties to Blade and has reacquired a few other titles in recent years; bad news is that they there are no current plans to do all of them.

Marvel's Kevin Feige sheds light on the matter in an interview with Entertainment Weekly

"So Punisher, Ghost Rider, ... Blade, all those characters are back. They all have potential, but I think we need to find the right time. We're not going to say, we got it back - make it."

But a report from the NY Daily News announced a scoop from insider sources about a new Blade 4 movie, claiming that the actor has signed on for a $3 million dollar contract

"...Wesley Snipes is set to reprise his lead role in "Blade," the 1998 vampire thriller that made more than $130 million and generated two sequels.

Sources close to Snipes tells us the 52-year-old actor's comeback after being released from prison in April 2013 (after serving two and a half years for tax evasion) is "looking good" and that he'll make $3 million from this film, plus a cut of the profits."

Marvel hasn't made any official announcements yet confirming the Blade 4 movie. Like all rumors, this one should be taken with a grain of salt considering that the last film wasn't exactly a success. Comedian Patton Oswalt who appeared in Trinity paints a picture of how it was filming on-set:

"It was just one of those; it was a very troubled production. Wesley [Snipes] was just fucking crazy in a hilarious way. He wouldn't come out of his trailer, and he would smoke weed all day. Which is fine with me, because I had all these DVDs that I wanted to catch up on. We were in Vancouver, and it was always raining. I kept the door to my trailer open to smell the evening rain while I was watching a movie. Then I remember one day on the set-they let everyone pick their own clothes-there was one black actor who was also kind of a club kid. And he wore this shirt with the word "Garbage" on it in big stylish letters. It was his shirt. And Wesley came down to the set, which he only did for close-ups. Everything else was done by his stand-in. I only did one scene with him. But he comes on and goes, "There's only one other black guy in the movie, and you make him wear a shirt that says 'Garbage?' You racist motherfucker!"

But in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly, Snipes talked about wanting to have another shot at it, this time wanting the "Twilight kids" to participate in the film (quote via Screen Rant):

"Blade chasing the 'Twilight' kids around? Hey man, there's always a possibility, and I'm open to it. There have been rumors around that we may explore the opportunity, so give me one more shot! "
