Samsung is known to have set the trend of large screen phones or the so called phablets, with its successful Galaxy Note series. Samsung's latest flagship , the Samsung Galaxy Note, was recently launched at the IFA.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is truly one of the most powerful phones in the market today.

On the other hand, Sony manufactures waterproof  Z series that boasts powerful processor that is not par at Samsung's latest flagship.. The Sony Xperia Z3 has the highest IP68 certification rating so far.

Design and Screen

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 carries the faux leather back we've seen in the Note 3 with added metal edges.
The new Samsung Galaxy Note 4 weighs 176g and 8.5mm thick  It's a 5.7-inch 2560x1440-pixel Super AMOLED display makes it better t than its predecessor the Samsung Galaxy Note 3, the screen is more responsive and has better viewing angles.

According to The Fuse Joplin, "When it comes to the build quality, the Xperia Z3 is far more superior to the Note 4. Great construction and design (aluminum and glass with nylon corners) ensure that the phone is sturdy, and adds an extra layer of protection when it comes to accidental drops,"

The Sony Xperia Z3 pulls off an incredible 5.2-inch full-HD (1080×1920 pixels) TRILUMINOS display.

Hardware and OS

Samsung Galaxy Note 4 first Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor to feature in a smartphone, clocked at 2.7GHz, Adreno 420 GPU graphics and supported by a 3GB of RAM.

Under the hood of the Z3, it houses a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor, with 3GB RAM. It features a 16GB of built-in storage, and expandable up  to 128GB via microSD card.

Both phones runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat and can be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

Camera

The Note 4 sports the same 16MP sensor found in the Galaxy S5 with optical image stabilisation (OIS) and 4K video recording at 30fps and a wide-angle 3.7MP front camera.

Meanwhile, Tech Vorm noted that the Sony Xperia Z3 has the best smartphone camera.

"The most interesting feature of  smartphone is equipped with 20.7-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED flash and the new 25mm wide-angle Sony G Lens that helps capture more area than most other smartphones. Like other smartphones of Sony, the camera app comes with modes such as Superior Auto, Manual, Sound Photo, Multi Camera, Timeshift Burst etc."

The tech website also added, "The Xperia Z3 also houses 2.2MP front facing cameras for selfies. Both the rear and front cameras can be rated as the best smartphone camera available in the market as of date."

Battery

Samsung Galaxy Note is backed up by a Li-Ion 3220 mAh battery that can last up to 20 hours  Talk time (2G)  and Music play Up to 82 hours with Ultra power saving mode.

On the other hand, Sony Xperia Z3 has a battery capacity of 3100mAh battery with STAMINA Mode. The STAMINA Mode turns off background functions when not in use that helps extend battery life.
