Oculus Rift Faces Competition In Xbox One Virtual Reality Headset In Development; Microsoft’s VR Headset Features And Release Date Details Unleashed

Gaming progresses into another level as development of virtual reality headsets emerge, with the most recent being Microsoft's Xbox One VR headset-another competition in features and release date to the upcoming Oculus Rift.

With the makers of the upcoming Oculus Rift is creating a head-mounted virtual reality display that is said to be compatible with Microsoft Windows, OS X and Linux platforms, Microsoft has other plans for Xbox.

Recent reports reveal that while netizens are waiting for the release date of the Oculus Rift, Microsoft confirms the development of its own virtual reality headset, the Xbox One VR headset.

According to VRFocus, the planned Xbox One VR Kit will be revealed in the upcoming E3 2015 in June that will include features and release date. Apart from the Xbox One VR Kit to include the wearable device, other known details have yet to be revealed.

The development of Xbox One VR headset reportedly began in 2012 as Microsoft included this project among its many filed patents. According to PatentlyApple, the Xbox One VR headset was covered under a "new technology that would have a gaming environment take over an entire room". Though buzz on Xbox One VR headset has only surfaced recently, apparently Microsoft has been on the project for years.

Microsoft's Xbox One VR headset features have yet to be announced, however it has been mentioned that the device will "closely resemble" its counterparts as reported by SlashGear. Upon the release date of Microsoft's Xbox One VR headset, it will directly compete with Sony's Project Morpheus and Oculus VR's Oculus Rift. What the actual differences of these three virtual reality headsets are remains to be seen, probably specifically when E3 2015 comes in June.

Available development details in Microsoft's Xbox One VR headset found online reveal that the device is indeed in development, and Microsoft has set a deadline for a Q4 of 2015 release date.
