Food Lion announced that all of its stores in the Mid-Atlantic States have gone through a brand strategy recently, including lowered prices of products, and will hold grand re-openings with giveaways from now until July 21.

Food Lion said that as part of their brand strategy for all of its 269 stores in North and South Carolina, consumers can experience convenient shopping with faster checkouts, said a press release issued by Food Lion on Wednesday. With the new strategy, about 800 new jobs were created throughout the two states.

"Today's launch is a pivotal turning point for our company as we have implemented our new strategy in more than 700 stores," Cathy Green Burns, president of Food Lion, stated for the press release.

"We invite customers to visit their local Food Lion, where they will experience firsthand the enhancements we have made in our stores.  We are committed to being recognized as a price leader, making our stores easier to shop, offering the greatest value in store brands and providing the freshest produce.  We are pleased to bring the strategy to our hometown markets, where we have served Food Lion customers for 55 years," Green Burns continued.

As part of the strategy, all of the Food Lions supermarkets will have grand re-openings this week, which will include a giveaway of bags of free groceries to the first 50 shoppers at each store, said the press release.

Food Lion also said they will, as part of the re-opening and brand strategy, donate $30,000 in store brand products to local charities. This will be split up as: $10,000 worth of groceries to Second Harvest Food Bank of Metrolina in Charlotte, N.C.; $10,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest North Carolina in Winston-Salem, N.C.; $5,000 to MANNA FoodBank in Asheville, N.C.; and $5,000 to Harvest Hope Food Bank in Greenville, S.C, listed the press release.
