Hayley Williams is now set to walk down the aisle!
The 26-year-old lead vocalist and occasional keyboardist of the rock band Paramore said "yes" when her longtime boyfriend Chad Gilbert, lead guitarist of New Found Glory, proposed to her on Christmas Day.
Williams shared the happy news with her more than four million Twitter followers with a funny photoshopped photo of them as a bride and groom. "Hey guess what?" she captioned the snap.
Gilbert, who also composes music and provides backing vocals for his band, also announced his engagement to Williams on his Instagram account. "Popped the question on Christmas Day!" the 33-year-old old musician wrote alongside the same snap Williams posted on Twitter.
As soon as they made the announcement, congratulations from their friends in the music industry began to flow in.
When news broke that the two were dating back in 2008, their big age difference had become an issue among some of their respective fans.
"Yeah, I'm dating Hayley. She is my girlfriend, and we are seven years apart," Gilbert previously told Rocksound (via Radio.com News). "She's 19 so she's the age 'teen,' but in reality, it's only seven years..."
"But if you respect Hayley and her band and their music, then you'll know she's extremely mature for her age, and she's not like a normal 19-year-old girl," he explained. "You can buy her CD and listen to her lyrics and relate to them, and you're older than her, you know what I'm saying? She's mature for her age."
"Yeah, I'm a cradle robber-but f****** Jerry Lee Lewis married his 13-year-old cousin, so I'm not that creep!" Gilbert added.
In an interview with Fuse TV just this September to talk about New Found Glory's eighth studio album "Resurrection," Gilbert shared how being making music has helped them strengthen their relationship.
