Shortly after the release of the film "Prometheus" in 2012, talks on the sequel have surfaced online and soon after, Fox announces that indeed "Prometheus 2" is in the works, with a targeted release date set on 2016. Director Ridley Scott reveals plot details.

Speculations on release date, villains and other plot details of "Prometheus 2" have continued to surface online. However, official news has been released recently by "Prometheus" director Ridley Scott and it is indeed a holiday present for fans!

In a recent interview with MTV, Ridley Scott shares bits and pieces of "Prometheus 2" plot details, saying that the sequel will begin where the first film left off. For those who haven't seen the first movie (spoilers ahead), "Prometheus" ends with almost everybody dead, with only Doctor Elizabeth Shaw, portrayed by Noomi Rapace standing-literally as Michael Fassbender's character, David is alive but body-less, with nothing more but a head.

According to reports, "Prometheus 2" will have Michael Fassbender's character David reunited with body parts so that he can go on into the sequel. In the interview, Ridley Scott said: "You can't have a person go off into the galaxy and have a person who's still got his head off. Once that head goes back on, he's really dangerous, but he's also very seductive, so maybe he'll persuade her to put the head back on."

So far, "Prometheus 2" official returning cast members include only Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender. Danny Webb who appeared as Morse in the 1992 "Alien 3" film is rumored to return, but no official news on the matter has been released.

"Prometheus 2" plot news also reveals that the sequel may no longer have xenomorphs as its primary villains. In a report by Screen Rant, Ridley Scott talked about the creatures and said: "I think it wears out a little bit. There's only so much snarling you can do. I think you've got to come back with something more interesting. And I think we've found the next step. I thought the Engineers were quite a good start."

"Prometheus 2" release date remains on a vague 2016. Stay tuned for updated news and other details here!
