When it comes to design, the Ascend Mate 7 should be crowned as the winner on this category. The Ascend Mate 7 boasts an 83% screen-body-ratio and made up of 95% metal. Color variants are available in three colors: Obsidian black, Moonlight silver, and Amber gold.

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has an exceptional design as it is enclosed in an aluminum frame as the Korean phone manufacturer already dropped off its Faux leather back found on the Note 3 and other Samsung devices. Its screen will be its selling point as it has an additional curved on screen display at the right edge that displays separate strip of screen notifications.

In terms of their screen display, both phones promise sharp and high resolution display. Samsung Galaxy Note Edge sports a 5.6 inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution up to 1600×2560 pixels, and has of the highest pixel density of 524ppi among Android phones.

While the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 features a larger screen display of 6-inch with 1080p  resolution. Though  it has inferior  pixel density, Huawei claims that the Ascend Mate 7 it is the world's first smartphone to carry a JDI IPS- NEO with negative crystal display that allows an ultra- high contrast ratio and it claims to have a 15 percent lower power consumption.

Underneath, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7GHz Krait 450 processor coupled with Adreno 420 GPU and 3GB of RAM. It offers two  storage variants of 32 GB and 64GB, and can be expanded up to 128GB via microSD.

The Ascend Mate 7 is also a powerful device like its rival, powered by an octa-core (1.8GHz A15 + 1.3GHz A7) Kirin 925 SoC with Mali T628 GPU. It runs the latest Android 4.4 Kitkat. There will be two variants: the 16GB variant will come with 2GB of RAM and the 32GB variant come with 3GB of RAM. Its external storage is expandable up to 32GB.

The Ascend Mate 7 sports a 13 megapixel camera with camera BSI sensor and LED flash and a 5MP front snapper with Panoramic view effect.

On the other hand, the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge has a 16 MP rear camera and a 3.7 MP front shooter. It also offers a 120-degree angle shot that can be activated at the back of the handset.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge 32GB variant costs $924 dollars, while the Huawei Ascend Mate 7 32GB variant costs $857.
