Suicide Squad Movie: A Run Down Of Characters, What We Know So Far, And The Latest Updates On DC's Villain Centric Film

Jan 08, 2015 05:07 PM EST | By Fred Yelland

It's unfortunate that DC won't be releasing any of their films in 2015, leaving it to 20th Century Fox and Marvel to provide the this year's superhero fix for the big screen.

Fans need not to worry - DC will come strong in 2016 with two of their own: Zack Snyder's Batman Vs Superman: Dawn of Justice, probably next year's most anticipated release. Recent reports that a particular sequence in the film, presumably a battle between the two comic book titans has to be watched out for, adding to the hype - we all can't wait to see that. Following Dawn of Justice is Suicide Squad, DC's villain-centered feature film. It seems unconventional in this day and age of superhero films in Hollywood, Suicide will be in a league of its own as a film which stars a group of villains as the protagonists; this will be DC's chance to keep things fresh.

So who is The Suicide Squad? They're a group of villains pulled out by the government to work in special missions, in return reducing their sentences. Who's in it? Here's a run down of the actors and the characters they're taking on:

Jared Leto will be playing DC's new Joker. Whether its dropping weight for in Dallas Buyers Club or packing pounds namely his role in Chapter 27, Leto will go to extremes giving more than what he is asked of.

Starring as Joker's girlfriend Harley Quinn is Margot Robbie. The Australian stunner has showed her acting chops in last year's "Wolf of Wall Street" proving that she is a highly bankable actress in Hollywood.

Another Aussie, Jai Courtney will star as Captain Boomerang. The actor, 28, has recently been enjoying steady success from the Divergent series of films as well as starring in this the fifth Terminator movie, Genisys.

Will Smith will be playing another one of Batman's greatest enemies, Deadshot. Smith is no stranger to genre films: Hancock, the Men In Black series and Independence Day - fans would be in for a treat seeing him as a villain in a feature film.

Tom Hardy returns to a DC film once again as a villain named Rick Flagg. Hardy's already proved that he can deliver a sinister role in 2012's The Dark Knight Rises as Bane - we're excited to see what he'll do with Flagg.

Victoria Secret model Cara Delevigne has been cast to play the Enchantress on the big screen. The 22 year-old has already proved that she can deliver on runways as well as infront of cameras, also landing a major role in John Green's big screen adaptation of Paper Towns.
