News of an Inhumans title film has been thrown around in Marvel movie circles as early aas 2012. Even then, Marvel boss Kevin Feige has always expressed his "confidence" in introducing new titles such as Doctor Strange, Guardians of The Galaxy and Inhumans.

Marvel has already established Guardians of The Galaxy and have confirmed "Sherlock" star Benedict Cumberbatch starring as the sorcerer supreme in Doctor Strange - but what about the Inhumans? Who Is this new supergroup and where do they stand in the Marvel Universe?

There aren't much updates on the film apart from Vin Diesel teasing his possible, albeit unconfirmed participation and an official November 2, 2018 release date. Until then, here's a need-to-know primer on their story:

The Inhumans are a race of super-powered humans created by an alien race called The Kree; Ronan The Accuser, the main antagonist from Guardians of The Galaxy is of the same species.

The Inhumans kept to themselves, settling in an island called Attilan. Hidden from the outside world, they developed their own technology and started a civilization. It wasn't until the 20th century when threats came to them and required them to team up with other alliances, namely The Avengers, X-Men and The Fantastic Four. They returned into hiding when the world started to notice them, moving the Attilan into a moon.

Years later, Ronan imprisoned them with the help of another alien race called the Shi'ar. Blackbolt, The king of the Inhumans liberated his race by defeating Ronan single handedly in a battle.

But not long after, The Skrulls kidnapped the Inhuman king and and took his place. When Blackbolt came back reclaiming his throne, he detached the Attilan from the moon to sent it and the Inhumans into space, at this point the Skrulls started to attack the earth. Meanwhile, Blackbolt started building his own group alongside the Kree, the very same race that created them. A war between The Skrull's and Kree's ensued - The Kree and Inhumans emerged the victors but along the way lost emperor Vulcan of The Shi'ar.

Blackbolt fixed five tribes of Inhumans across the galaxy by taking a wife from each one.

Blackbolt and Thanos soon crossed paths - the mad titan came to the Attilan looking for his lost son Thane, an Inhuman descendant.

Thanos and Blackbolt battled each other, reducing the Attilan into rubble in the process.
