Taron Egerton Clears Rumors On Cyclops Casting In X Men: Apocalypse, Says 'I Don't Know'

Fox has followed suit after Marvel and DC with an announcement of their movies for the next few years. 2016 will come three movies from the X Men series: Deadpool, Gambit and X Men: Apocalypse.

Recently, there have been casting rumors circulating the Bryan Singer directed Apocalypse. News that the younger versions of Storm, Jean Grey and Cyclops are up for grabs.

Top contenders playing the young Jean Grey include Sophie Turner from Game of Thrones, Saoirse Ronan of The Host and Hanna fame, Hailee Steinfeld from True Grit and Elle Fanning from Malificent and Super 8. Reports that the role was also offered to Chloe Grace Moretz; the actress reportedly turned down the offer due to scheduling conflicts.

Alexandra Shipp who played the title role in a biopic of the late singer Aaliyah titled "Aaliyah: Princess of R&B" and Zendaya Coleman from 2014's Zapped are both in contention of playing the young Storm.

Rumored in contention of playing Scott Summers aka Cyclops are Interstellar's Timothee Chalamet, Red Band's Society's Charlie Rowe and Tye Sheridan from 2012's Mud. Taron Egerton of the upcoming Kingsman: The Secret Service who was also in the running to play the role recently made a statement about the rumors via Screen Rant:

"I'm not really sure what's going on there or where that [rumor] came from, but my friend Nicholas Hoult plays Beast and he says that's very fun. Of course, everyone would like to play a superhero, but this is by no means me saying I would like to go play Cyclops. So, I don't know. - said the Welsh actor.
