It was first believed that Xiaomi will unveil the alleged Mi5 and Mi4s, but the world's third largest phone manufacturer introduced two high-end phablets, the Xiaomi Mi Note and Xiaomi Note Pro.

During its launch at Beijing on Thursday, Xiaomi slams Apple by directly comparing its two new flagships with iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.

"Our phone is lighter, thinner, narrower and shorter than the iPhone 6 Plus," declared Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun. "But we have a bigger screen."

As per CNN, Chairman Lei Jun said that the Mi Note is thinner and lighter than Apple's iPhone 6 and will be priced at 2299 yuan ($370) for a 16GB model, and 2799 yuan ($450) for the 64GB model.

The Xiaomi Mi Note boasts a 5.7-inch screen with a 1080p resolution and was supplied by Japan Display; powered by a 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor coupled with 3GB of RAM; has a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 3000 mAh battery.

Xiaomi also unveiled the Pro version that will be retailed at 3299 yuan ($530), the phone boasts download speeds of up to 450 Mbps.

CEO Lei Jun described the phone as "literally the best smartphone in the world to date." The Xioami Mi Note Pro would be a tough competitor of the rumored Samsung Galaxy S6, LG G4 and Sony Xperia Sony Z4 as it stepped it a notch to be the first phablet to feature a Snapdragon 810 processor.

The Mi Note Pro also features a higher resolution of 2K display with pixel density of 515 pixels per inch); a faster 64 bit Snapdragon processor and 4G chip; 4G of RAM and 64GB of built-in storage.

Meanwhile, according to analyst Kiranjeet Kumar, senior market analyst at IDC Asia Pacific, Xiaomi's latest flagships didn't show a "breakthrough in innovation" and its low prices were still the biggest attraction.

"Xiaomi changed the game in a way. Instead of keeping everyone's focus on ground-breaking innovative features coming on flagship phones, it has switched attention to packing great specs at modest price points," Mr Kumar said. "The key would be if they surpass the competition and its earlier models at those price-points."
