EA Digital Illusions CE's Mirror's Edge was a hit among different platforms. The game was announced on July 10, 2007, and was released for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 in November 2008. A Microsoft Windows version was released on January 13, 2009. Mirror's Edge is powered by the Unreal Engine 3, with the addition of a new lighting solution, developed by Illuminate Labs in association with DICE.

According to its dedicated page on Wikipedia, the game have won the Annual Interactive Achievement Award for Adventure Game of the Year and the Mirror's Edge PC version garnered a Metacritic aggregated score of 81%.

EA DICE announced the next Mirror's Edge at E3 2013, but the game developers have been tight lipped since then. The game developers also added that the Mirror's Edge 2 will be available "when it's ready." It is still unclear if the next installment will be a sequel or a prequel.

Many have speculated that the game will be released in 2016. But on Attack of the Fanboy's latest report Mirror's Edge 2 is now listed on Microsoft store and hinted that it might be released this year.

Mirrors Edge 2 will be available for the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and will be priced at $59.99 as listed on the Microsoft store

Microsoft Store also allows you to pre-order Mirror's Edge 2 already. If you pre- order the game now, you will get a $10 Xbox gift card. This deal expires on December 31st, 2015. This further suggests a 2015 release date for the game could be likely.

In an interview with Eurogamer , CEO Karl- Magnus Troedsson revealed that the game is still in progress and a small team has been working on the second installment to 'create the perfect game.'

He said, "We realized this is going to take some time for us, so we basically said, let's take the time and perhaps have a little bit of a smaller team over a longer period of time."

He further adds that DICE is trying to "remove a bit of frustration" from the first title's clunky controls.

"We really want to continue doing that but removing a bit of the frustration that came with that in the first game," Troedsson said. "We're focusing on first-person combat this time around to make sure we bring that experience into something that is really fun and accessible."
