'Mortal Kombat' Actor Darren Shahlavi Dead At 42; Overdosed Medicine Might Have Caused His Death, Reports Claim

Darren Shahlavi who played the role Kano in "Mortal Kombat: Legacy" has died as his representative confirmed the news.

"Shahlavi was found at his home by his roommate on January 14 after apparently passing away in his sleep," Darren Shahlavi's agent told The Hollywood Reporter.

The 42-year-old stuntman who appeared on various movies such as, "The Chronicles of Riddick," "300," and "Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol" was believed to have overdosed on prescription medicines that might have been the cause of the death. Los Angeles County Coroner is conduting toxicology tests to confirm this speculation, TMZ reports.

TMZ also adds that a source told the celebrity gossip site that "the actor sadly had a history of drug and alcohol abuse."

Darren Shahlavi also appeared in "Alone In The Dark," "BloodRayne," and "In The I." He starred as the villainous Taylor "The Twister" Milos opposite Donnie Yen in "Ip Man 2."

His most recent role were a genie hunter in "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland," and as Constantine Drakon in "Arrow."

Meanhwile, Continuum creator Simon Barry and Arrow co-star Stephen Amell took to Twitter to express their condolences.

His younger sister Malouse also took to social media to pay her tribute to the martial artist whose apparent death has shocked his fans, E! reports.

"Don't know how to express the emotions I'm feeling right now. Last night I found out my dearest brother had past away, he was a true inspiration to so many people including myself and I will forever be proud of all of your accomplishments with your acting career," Malouse posted on Twitter.

"I can not begin to explain how much you will be missed by me and our family. You were an amazing person with endless talent. You will be forever loved by so many x."
