HTC Desire 516 Vs Sony Xperia E3: Comparison of Design, Specs And Features; Which Mid-range Phone Is A Better Purchase?

In terms of affordability and competitive features the Sony Xperia E3 and HTC Desire 516 are the best choice among mid-range phones in the market today. Hence, which is a better buy among the two?

Design

The Fuse Joplin notes that the increased bezel of the HTC Desire 516 makes it look larger, it has a 5-inch screen display that renders a resolution of 540 x 960 and a pixel density of 220 ppi.

On the other hand, Sony Xperia E3 has a smaller screen of 4.5-inch in size and an inferior resolution of 480 x 854 with a pixel density of 218 ppi.

Hardware and OS

Under the hood, the Sony Xperia E3 is armed with a powerful processor of a Qualcomm MSM8926-2 Snapdragon 400 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz, while the HTC Desire 516 runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor clocked at 1.2 GHz.

Both phones are supported by a 1GB of RAM paired with Adreno 305 GPU on the Sony Xperia E3 and HTC Desire 516 has an Adreno 302.

The HTC Desire 516 is a little bit outdated running on Android v4.2.2 Jelly Bean with HTC SensenUI, while the Sony Xperia E3 runs on an Android v4.4.2 Kitkat.

In addition, both phones have the same 4GB internal storage that can be expanded via microSD up to 32GB.

Camera

The Sony Xperia E3 pulls off a 5MP rear camera and a VGA on the front. Its rear camera can shoot 1080p videos.

In comparison, the HTC Desire 516 has the same rear camera, but has a better front snapper of 2MP. Its rear camera features LED flash, Geo tagging and can shoot videos at 720p only.

Battery and Price

The Fuse Joplin adds that the Sony Xperia E3 has a battery capacity of 2330 mAh, while the HTC Desire 516 has 1950 mAh. Both phones cost $230.
