Olympics Closing Ceremony London 2012: Spice Girls, One Direction Preformed [PHOTOS]

The Olympics closing ceremony got off to a bang, showcasing the best musical talent from out of the host nation Britain which included the likes of the Spice Girls, One Direction and Annie Lennox.

The Spice Girls drew the evening's biggest response as they performed their hit "Spice Up Your Life" as they rolled around Olympic Park atop London cabs. The Who ended the night with a medley of hits, including "Baba O'Riley," "See Me, Feel Me" and "My Generation."

The 21-year-old singer Ed Sheeran sang "Wish You Were Here" with members of Pink Floyd and Genesis. Jessie J belted out "We Will Rock You" with Queen's Brian May. The Kaiser Chiefs played The Who's "Pinball Wizard."

Annie Lennox and George Michael, who got their start in the 80s - but the roars that greeted Michael's "Freedom" and Lennox's "Little Bird" suggested both are still going strong.

The show rocked the 80,000 spectators inside Olympic Stadium, but didn't get rave reviews from those watching on TV.

In the end, the International Olympic Committee President Jacques Rogge called upon the youth of the world to assemble four years from now in Rio de Janeiro, where a South American country will host the Games for the first time.

It was a call Brazil answered during the closing ceremony with an eight-minute samba show that included singer Marisa Monte, supermodel Alessandra Ambrosio and a surprise appearance by soccer legend Pele.
