Canon recently announced their impressive new lineup of products: The 50 megapixel monster EOS 5DS/ 5DS R, an ultra wide 11-24mm f/4L and the EOS M3, the Japanese manufacturer's latest mirrorless camera.

Building on the popularity of the 5D series, the 5DS uses a record-breaking new 50 megapixel CMOS sensor making it the DSLR with the highest resultion available in the market. Experts say that this might give medium format camera brands a run for its money as the new model's body is near identical to the current 5D Mark III, making it more portable and less bulkier than something like a Hasselblad H5D.

Apart from the new sensor, shooting in 1.3x and 1.6x crop modes, electronic level, 61 AF points, live view with face detection and a 100% field of view are all features present in the new model.

While some improvements have been made for imaging, it looks like the 5D Mark III will still be the choice for videographers as key features such as the headphone jack and HDMI output terminal have been removed.

Canon has waged megapixel war against its competitor, Nikon's 36 mega pixel D810, previously the DSLR with the highest resolution. It won't come cheap either as the EOS 5DS retails for $3,699 while the EOS 5DS R, essentially the same model sans the anti-aliasing filter will retail at $3,899.

For the mirroless category, the company unveiled the EOS M3. The palm-sized camera features a 24 megapixel APS-C sensor with improvements on the body such as an ergonomic grip, two control rings and an exposure compensation dial on top. Currently, there are only four EF lens compatible with the M3: 22mm, 11-22mm, 18-55mm and a 200mm; a separate adapter can be used to mount EF DSLR lenses.

Lastly, their latest addition to the ultra wide series of lenses, the 11-24mm f/4L. Key features include 16 elements in 11 groups, fluorine coated front and rear lens, nine diaphragm blades with a minimum aperture of f/22, AF motor ring USM, dust & weather sealed and measures 132mm length  - 108mm diameter and weighs about 1180g's.
