Zlatan Ibrahimovic was given a yellow card on Saturday's match against Caen that ended up with 2-2 draw. After his controversial act, Paris Saint-Germain forward explains why he stripped off his shirt.

According to the Mirror, Ibrahimovic took off his shirt after making a goal to show off his temporary tattooed names of 50 hungry people helped by the United Nations World Food Program to raise awareness.

In an interview on Sunday, Ibrahimovic said that he has been an advocate of the United Nations WFP and he wanted his supporters to also support the charity in helping people who suffer from hunger.

"Wherever I go people recognize me, call my name, cheer for me," the PSG striker explained.

"But there are names no one cares to remember. That no one cheers for: the 805m people suffering from hunger in the world today."

The Daily Mail adds that Ibrahimovic had the temporary tattoos - of names such as Carmen, Mariko, Antoine, Lida, Rahma and Yae.

France's WFP director Marina Catena also praised Ibrahimovic's advocacy in raising awareness, and said that each of the 805m who suffer from hunger around the world "has a name, a voice, a story to share."

"Zlatan accepted the challenge and wished to carry their stories on his own skin so that the world does not forget them," France's WFP director Marina Catena added.

"I had a dream that someone could convey this message in a simple way. We thought of Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who is always asked for his autograph. So why shouldn't it be Zlatan who has the autographs on his body this time? We're proud that he accepted to convey this message."

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old PSG's top scorer for the past two seasons will be back on the game against Chelsea on Tuesday in the last 16 of the Champions league.
