Mexican telenovela actress Lorena Rojas died at 44 in her Miami home on Monday after her seven year battle with breast cancer, CNN reports.

In a statement released by the talent management agency Latin WE the "Rosario" star "took her last breath peacefully in her home, surrounded by the love of her family, her boyfriend and her closest friends."

"Lorena takes a step into eternal life leaving as her greatest legacy the love for animals and for art in all its forms, her tender devotion to her daughter, her passion for life, the appreciation of all her Lobitas and fans who she loved until the end," Latin WE added.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, Rojas was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. When it was revealed to the actress, a doctor suggested to freeze her eggs for her to have a baby later in life. But the disease came back in 2012.

People adds that the following year, after the tumor has spread to others parts of her body, she told Mexican state news Agency Notimex that "[she] was very aware that this disease... is a chronic disease."

Rojas starred in telenovelas such as, "El Cuerpo del Deseo," "Pecados Ajenos," "Alcanzar Una Estrella," "Rosario" and the series "Demente Criminal." She has also minor roles on "Manos Quietas" and "Aventurera." ( via CNN)

The 44-year-old actress has also an active music career, and released three albums. In 2014 she wrote and recorded the "Hijos del Sol" album. It was inspired by her daughter Luciana whom she adopted in 2013.

Before the multi-talented Mexican actress succumbed to death she was able to celebrate her 44th birthday on Feb. 10 and took to Twitter to thank everyone who celebrated with her on her special day.

"Thank you all for celebrating my birthday with me. Beautiful day," she wrote on Twitter.
