It has been confirmed that Sony will tie-up with Marvel for the new "Spider-Man" movie. Many fans were thrilled when they heard the announcement of Sony's CEO Michael Lynton.

"We always want to collaborate with the best and most successful filmmakers to grow our franchises and develop our characters. Marvel, Kevin Feige and Amy [Pascal], who helped orchestrate this deal, are the perfect team to help produce the next chapter of Spider-Man," he said as reported by Marvel.com.

Now the question is if Andrew Garfield will reprise his role as Peter Parker or will he be replaced by another actor. According to Variety, Sony is eyeing a younger web slinger because they are planning a high school setup for the character. Because of this news, several movie websites and critics have started to come up with their own list of actors who could best replace Emma Stone's boyfriend.

The strongest candidates for the next Spider-Man are Dylan O'Brien, who recently starred in "The Maze Runner", and Logan Lerman, who is best known as Percy Jackson in the film series. According to Movie Pilot, if the producers are looking for a fresh look to get people more interested in the world of Peter Parker then O'Brien is the perfect choice.

But if they are looking for someone who will resemble Tobey Maguire, then Lerman is the main man. Movie Pilot reported that the 23-year old actor was considered for the role while Sony Pictures was still developing the "Amazing Spider-Man".

"There have been a few discussions, it's definitely something I'm looking into. It's [Spider-man] one of my favorite characters ever and I'm a huge fan of the series. I'd love to have more conversations about it. I'm definitely very interested in it," Lerman revealed during a guest appearance at the Billy Bush Show a few years ago.

Variety also reported that Sony wanted to get a new director first before they start the casting call for the new "Spider-Man" movie. Maybe Joss Whedon will be approached for the project since there have been reports that "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" will be his last movie for the film franchise?
