Oscars 2015's Fashion Police Guliana Rancic Apologizes To Zendaya Coleman; The E! Correspondent Clarifies That Her Comment Wasn't Racist

Guliana Rancic has outraged Zendaya Coleman and her fans over her alleged racist comment about the "Shake It Up" star's appearance at Oscars 2015.

Rancic criticized Zendaya's Vivienne Westwood white side slipped gown and her dreadlocks on Fashion Police's Monday episode, Daily Mail reports.

"I feel like she smells like patchouli oil... or maybe weed," said Rancic on Fashion Police.

"Yeah, maybe weed."

The former Disney fires back on Instagram and calls out the E! correspondent as "ignorant, disrespectful and outrageously offensive."

"There is a fine line between what is funny and disrespectful. Someone said something about my hair at the Oscars that left me in awe. Not because I was relishing in rave outfit reviews, but because I was hit with ignorant slurs and pure disrespect," she posted on Instagram.

'"To say that an 18-year-old young woman with locs must smell of patchouli oil or 'weed' is not only a large stereotype but outrageously offensive. I don't usually feel the need to respond to negative things but certain remarks cannot go unchecked."

The 18-year-old also mentioned on her post about some people who wears dreadlocks and proud of their natives like her father and brother, director Ava DuVernay, "Waiting to Exhale" author Terry McMillan, and Grammy-nominated singer Ledisi, Hollywood Reporter adds.

Zendaya later emphasized on her post that she wore her hair in locks "to showcase them in a positive light" and "to remind people of color that our hair is good enough."

"To me locs are a symbol of strength and beauty, almost like a lion's mane," she went on.

After Zendaya's post on social media has caused uproar, the 40-year-old reporter later posted an apology on Twitter and clarifies that her comment doesn't have anything to do with race.

"Dear @Zendaya, I'm sorry I offended you and others. I was referring to a bohemian chic look. Had NOTHING to do with race and NEVER would!!!," Rancic posted on Twitter.
