Model Aydian Dowling Poses For FTM To Raise Transgender Awareness; Recreates Maroon 5 Adam Levine Racy Cosmopolitan Cover

Feb 25, 2015 05:52 PM EST | By Paula Smith

In 2011 Maroon 5 frontman Adam Levine posed for Cosmopolitan UK with his then girlfriend Anne Vyalitsyna who covered his private parts to raise awareness of testicular and prostate cancer.

Four years following Levine's iconic cover, we'll be seeing another racy photo, which will be the cover of FTM April 2015 issue.

Model Aydiana Dowling, a vlogger and an entrepreneur, worked with FTM CEO Jason Robert Ballard to recreate Adam Levine's racy cover to raise transgender issues.

According to the Daily Mail, while gathering sexy photos for the shoot CEO Ballard "had seen similarities between Dowling's physique and that of Maroon 5 singer and 'The Voice' coach Levine and suggested they did a version of the 2011 pose."

"As we collected them, I came across the shoot of Adam Levine for his prostate and testicular cancer campaign and immediately asked Aydian if he'd be comfortable doing that kind of thing," Ballard said in an interview.

While Dowling responded that he "better hit the gym" before doing the shoot and visualize the photo as "imagine the audience naked."

"Some areas of my body used to remind me of everything I'm not, now they represent everything I am," the model was quoted as saying in the published FTM April 2015 issue.

Dowling, 27, on the other hand helps other trans to pay for their surgeries through sales of his own clothing brand Point 5cc, which also helped him from his top surgery, or removal of breast tissue.

Though the magazine is still unavailable on newsstands until April, the racy photo is now circulating on social media, and has so far received praises like Dowling has "outshined" the "The Voice" judge.

"[W]e've received almost unanimous support for it and our attempts at creating visibility for the trans masculine spectrum," Ballard said in an email sent to The Huffington Post.

In addition, Dowling and Ballard also aim to empower trans to "make a better future for those to follow," and they do not look "different from our cisgender counterparts."
