The new era for mid-range phones has been set by HTC and it is known for its competitive dominance of the mid-range market.

Its "selfie" focused HTC Desire EYE, launched late last year, is definitely a tough Android phone. But with the nearing official launch of the Asus Zenfone, the HTC Desire EYE is possibly in a great threat!

Design and Screen

In terms of their designs, both phones are clad in a plastic shell and feature curved edges. The HTC Desire EYE with dual tone color has the dimensions of 5.97 x 2.91 x 0.33 inches and weighs 5.43 ounces and renders a 1080p resolution on its 5.2-inch screen and a pixel density of 424 ppi.

On the other hand, Asus Zenfone 2 measures 6.00 x 3.04 x 0.43 inches and weighs 6 ounces. It offers a quite larger screen of 5.5-inch diagonal display with the same resolution.

Performance

According to its official specs, the Asus Zenfone 2 is armed with an Intel Atom quad core processor and shipped running on Android 5.0 Lollipop with Zen UI. It offers three storage variants of 16GB, 32GB and 64GB which can be expanded up to 64GB only.

While the HTC Desire EYE is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor clocked at 2.3 GHz coupled with a 2GB of RAM and it has an Adreno 330 GPU. It has a 16GB of onboard storage and expandable up to 128GB.

Camera

When it comes to their cameras, both phones have the same 13MP shooter on their rear, though the HTC Desire EYE undoubtedly outperform the Asus Zenfone 2 with its 13MP front snapper compared with the latter's 5MP.

Price

The Asus Zenfone 2 is expected to carry an inexpensive price tag of $200, while the HTC Desire EYE is available on Amazon for $540.
