Red Robin Rolls Out New Beer Milkshake for Octotoberfest

Sep 11, 2012 08:50 PM EDT | By Staff Reporter

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers has unveiled a special beer milkshake made with Samuel Adams Octoberfest, soft serve vanilla ice cream, vanilla syrup and caramel, just ahead of the popular German Oktoberfest .

"Nothing says Oktoberfest better than a beer, so I incorporated the fun spirit of Red Robin into this innovative milkshake," said Donna Ruch, master mixologist with Red Robin, according to Fox news.

"Now, our guests don't have to choose between a beer or a shake to go with their burger. They can have the very best of both in our new Octoberfest Milkshake."

The beer milkshake is available to customers 21 and over for about $5 and will be sold until November 11.

Along with the beer milkshake, Red Robin is also debuting warm pretzel bites, served with beer cheese and beer mustard. There's also the return of the Oktoberfest burger made with a toasted pretzel bun, beer mustard, melted Swiss cheese, sauteed onions, ham and lettuce.

Red Robin has about 460 restaurants around the country. Reuters reports that the number of frozen cocktails on restaurant menus is up 52 percent since 2009, despite the flagging popularity of classics like piña coladas, daiquiris and mudslides, according to Mintel Menu Insights, which tracks trends across all types of restaurants.

The milkshake was added to avoid the "sea of sameness" with other fast-food burgers and shakes, said chief marketing officer Denny Post to Reuters. "The male at the table is the one more likely to take the bait," Post said.
