"The Americans" season 3 still has four episodes left to air. Despite that, there's no stopping FX network to give its critically acclaimed spy drama a green light to start planning a fourth season run.

Nick Grad, the network's Original Programming co-president, announced on March 31 that the TV series featuring Matthew Rhys and Keri Russell is set for a fourth season, mainly thanks to its critically acclaimed third season episodes.

"Remarkably, this season of The Americans has achieved even greater acclaim than that of its first two seasons," Grad said of "The Americans" season 3 renewal in a statement.

"The series has cemented it status with critics as television's best current drama and arguably the best show on TV, and we couldn't agree more... We look forward to the final four episodes of season three, and beyond, in Philip and Elizabeth Jennings' riveting journey."

Although most "The Americans" season 3 episodes are not that great in viewership, they more than make up in critical reviews. The third season of the FX TV series received 100 percent approval rating from Rotten Tomatoes.

Over at the New York Times, Alessandra Stanely commends "The Americans" season 3 for its "unusually clever, subtle drama that uses the conventions of a Cold War thriller to paint a portrait of a complicated, evolving but not unhappy marriage...[E]very season gets more complicated, and is all the better for it."

"The Americans" season 4 is expected to air early next year. Aside from Rhys and Russell, the show also stars Noah Emmerich as Stan Beeman, Annet Mahendru as Nina Sergeevna Krilova, and Alison Wright as Martha Hanson.

The next episode titled "Stingers" will air today. Read the full "The Americans" season 3 episode guide below.
