'Vikings' Season 3 Episode Guide: Is It Ragnar Versus Floki From Here On?

ET Online released an exclusive "Vikings" season 3 episode guide and from the looks of it, it seems the show will never be the same as it was before after this week's episode.

In the video, longtime allies Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel) and Floki (Gustaf Skarsgard) are seen having a serious conversation about Athelstan (George Blagden) who was killed off in the last episode by the self proclaimed Loki descendant.

Last week's "Vikings" season 3 episode titled "Born Again" was an emotional one for the Kattegat leader. The Christian monk he treated as a friend has died. However, Ragnar still has no idea who killed him. He is not aware that it was Floki, another one of his loyal allies and greatly helped him in his first quest in Britain.

"I miss him ... Athelstan," Ragnar tells Floki. "I wish he was here with us."

"Since you carry his cross, he is here with us," Floki responded.

"He would have been useful," Ragnar laments, while Floki is ready to move on, "We will manage without him."

Ragnar is still in the dark when it comes to the identity of Athelstan's murderer. According to recent "Vikings" season 3 episode guide from series creator Michael Hirst, Ragnar will pay tribute to his friend, not just through the cross he is wearing but also through the travels and battles he will journey into.

"Now, this is Ragnar paying tribute to Athelstan by doing the same thing," Hirst said last week when asked by Zap2It for a "Vikings" season 3 episode guide regarding Ragnar's reaction on Althestan's murder.

"It's also a visible sign that he's a changed person, though. What I didn't want to do ... It's not a Western, so I didn't want him to turn around and immediately get the guy. He's clearly going to get the man who did this but that's for the future.

As for Floki, it seems he is not that convinced with what he did. Although he insists he must kill Athelstan in the name of Odin, Hirst said he will feel a little guilty about it.

"The answer is, 'yes.' He's divided about it, but his divisions are very deep and they don't come out immediately. If you watch this season, you'll see exactly how he feels about it and it's very emotional. You really get the full impact of that in the final episode," Hirst said.
