Avril Lavigne had been missing in the spotlight for quite some time which has drawn different speculations.

In December she answered a fan's question why she's been out in the public eye, but rumors began to swirl that the Canadian rockstar was heading to rehab due to her nearing divorce with husband Chad Kroeger,
Entertainment Tonight reported.

In a recent interview with People Magazine, the 30-year-old hitmaker has finally broke her silence and revealed what she has been going through for the past few months. She said that she was diagnosed with Lyme disease - the same disease which "Real Housewives" star Yolanda Foster is battling.

She recalls that she started feeling the symptoms in Las Vegas while she was celebrating her 30th birthday at The Bank Nightclub in the Bellagio Resort and Casino

"I could barely eat, and when we went to the pool, I had to leave and go lie in bed," she revealed.

She went on that she felt lethargic and lightheaded for months before she was diagnosed with the disease and believes that she was bitten by a tick some time in Spring.

"I felt like I couldn't breathe, I couldn't talk and I couldn't move," she says about her experience with the infectious disease.

 "I thought I was dying."

The 'Girlfriend' singer also revealed that she was confined to bed for five months and felt "like having all your life sucked out of you."

"There were definitely times I couldn't shower for a full week because I could barely stand," she added.

According to Avril, Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger has been very supportive throughout her battle with Lyme disease, and helped her get through. She added that she is now feeling 80 percent better and ready to release her new album "Fly" in support of the 2015 Special Olympics.
