Married Couple With Cystic Fibrosis Can’t Stay In Same Room

Katie Donovan and Dalton’s romance began via Facebook when the 18-year-old girl decided to message her now husband after reading that he had cystic fibrosis, according to WGNTV.

Although the couple, who both have cystic fibrosis, have a four-year anniversary coming up this summer, they currently reportedly can’t be in the same room.

Dalton was able to get a lung transplant in November, but Katie is still unable to get one because the costs reportedly wouldn’t be covered by Medicare. Dalton and Katie have been unable to be near each other because her disease can be deadly for him as he’s on drugs to suppress his immune system, according to WHNT.com.

“I just want to make it to see our four year anniversary in July and be able to hold hands and just hug. That’s all I really want — to be able to hug my husband on our fourth anniversary,” stated Katie.

Katie and Dalton’s love story is a beautiful one.

“If you ever need a friend to talk to, you can reach out to me,” Katie had written to six-years ago via social media.

When Dalton asked if they knew each other, Katie reportedly responsed with, “No, you don’t. My breathing is pretty crappy and I see you are in the hospital. I’m sorry. I know it sucks! But you just gotta stay strong.”

Although there was a risk their conditions could get worse the two decided to meet.

“When we were deciding whether to meet up or not, I told Dalton I’d rather be happy — like really, really happy — for five years of my life and die sooner than be mediocre happy and live for twenty years,” stated Katie.

She continued, “That was definitely something I had to think about, but when you have those feelings, you just know.”
