Fans of the tandem Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the '80s classic comedy will surely get excited with this news.
There will be "Bill & Ted 3". During an interview with Yahoo Movies, the 49-year-old filmmaker revealed the latest update on the third installment.
"We're really close. We're just about there," Winter said. "In Hollywood parlance, [that] means we'll either be shooting soon, or it's never going to happen," he added. Ever since "Ghostbusters" confirmed its reboot and "Dumb and Dumber To" was released last year, many people have been yearning to see Bill & Ted's next adventure.
The website asked Alex if he ever gets sick of answering questions about "Bill & Ted 3". "We're trying to get the movie made, so how could we be sick of it?" he said. "It's really been us driving the whole thing, me and Keanu and [writers] Chris [Matheson] and Ed [Solomon]. So we're producing it and we're actively trying to get it made."
In a separate interview with IGN, Keanu Reeves revealed the latest updates on the third installment of "Bill and Ted". "We're a little closer. We're a little closer" he said. "There's now talk of contracts and maybe paying the writers to go and write. There might be some support for making the picture."
The 50-year-old actor was also asked which between "Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure" and "Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey" is his favorite. "I think the first three-quarters of Bogus Journey are pretty great. But you can't have that without the first one, right?" he said. "And the first one is so naive and sweet, and the second one has... I mean love evil Bill and Ted. They're pretty funny."
The "John Wick" star also revealed the fate of the evil android doubles of Bill and Ted, which appeared in the second movie. "I don't know... there's something else. There's always a sense of travel in these pictures - they do have a time machine!"
With both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter openly talking about "Bill & Ted 3", then we can expect more updates on the third installment soon.
