The Cure New Album Will Have A Surprise Release Date? Vocalist Robert Smith Determined To Push Through With New Record Despite Delays

Will the English rock band The Cure finally release a new album following the highly successful 2008 record 4:13 Dream?

In an interview with NME, band vocalist Robert Smith revealed that the band is indeed working on a follow up LP already, adding that they would include previously unreleased materials on it.

"There's new stuff that we're doing with this line-up and stuff we finished with the old line up," Smith said of the new album.

The new album could compose of the tracks from The Cure's unreleased record in 2008. It can be remembered that the band tried to release a double album but was denied by the label.

"Honestly? Just pure bloody mindedness," he said of the situation. "I was so f*cking angry that [the label] wouldn't release a double album that I wouldn't give them the other songs."

Furthermore, Smith also shared the band's trials when they had to lose old members of the group and adjust on working with new members.

However, Reeves Gabrels, who has been with The Cure since 2012, is said to give a new twist to the old tracks, which will be included in the new album.

"A lot of stuff happened, unfortunately, with the last line-up of the band," Smith explained. "People forget sometimes that even when you get older, when you play music with people, there's a very intense relationship there and when that breaks down then it's very difficult to just pretend it doesn't matter."

"The last line-up, there were a number of reasons why I felt unable to complete what we were doing. It was impossible to just get another line-up and bang out the songs we didn't release; it would have been wrong."
