Following official announcement Haim Saban and Lionsgate are collaborating for an all-new "Power Rangers" movie reboot, the progress has been really slow for the project.

However new reports suggest that the upcoming reboot to the hit 90s teenage superhero series may be moving forward at last.

The Wrap exclusively reported that the Saban and Lionsgate have finally found a new director to replace Roberto Orci.

While nothing has been finalized yet, "Project Almanac" director Dean Israelite is reportedly in final negotiations with the studio company to direct the "Power Rangers" movie reboot.

Roberto Orci, who wrote "Star Trek" and "Star Trek Into Darkness" story was supposed to direct the film, but dropped it to direct "Star Trek 3," which he later dropped as well.

Origanl Green Ranger cast Jason David Frank, who openly expressed his desire to star in the film again, confirmed that Israelite is indeed in talks with Saban and Lionsgate for the project.

"I don't know if he's 100%," he explained to Comic Book. "I know they're looking at him, but I don't think it's a done deal. I know they're in talks with him right now. They're still negotiating a deal. We'll see see who ends up directing this thing."

And when asked about he knows about the reboot, he blamed his large social media following for not knowing anything.

"It's pretty secretive, man," he said. "It's a big Lionsgate project, so I'm sure I'm the last guy they're gonna tell because I have a huge social media fanbase."

Moreover, if director Dean Israelite gets the deal to direct "Power Rangers" movie reboot, it might not take long for the studio company to announce its official cast as well.

"With an extensive and extremely devoted worldwide fan base as well as a deep and detailed mythology, the Power Rangers are primed for the big screen," Lionsgate previously announced.

Names of actors including Chloe Grace Moretz, Taylor Lautner and Liam Hemsworth were previously linked to the movie, but none of them have confirmed their involvement yet.

However, Frank, who has been in the series for the longest time requested that he be included in the reboot and portray his character as Green Ranger once again.

"I wanna be in the real 'Power Ranger' movie," Frank said a video posted on his Facebook account. "You know what I mean? So Lionsgate let's get this stuff going on be in the real movie. I've saved my character for so long. And when I bring my character out in like in the movies or something linke that I want it to be legit. I want it to be a Saban blessing approved project."
