'The Flash' Finale Casualty Might Not Be Really Dead, Plus A Whole Lot More To Expect In Show's Season 2

After that epic, roller coaster of emotion that is "The Flash" finale, it is now hard to blame fans if they will ask for the second to come sooner.

"The Flash" season 2 will premiere this fall but with the way the hit superhero TV series ended its first season, bigger things are expected from the show.

Spoiler alert!

So Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), did not save his mother from the past in "The Flash" finale. Mrs. Allen remains dead and nothing was altered in the present. However, there were some characters who died. Rick Cosnett's Eddie Thawne sacrificed his life because he wants to become a hero and prevent his future kin Eobard Thawne/Reverse Flash from wreaking more terror. Because of what he did, Barry Allen's main nemesis for this season was erased in existence. Since Eddie died before he even had kids, it means Eobard also does not exist.

"The Flash" finale killed off Eddie and Eobard Thawne, who really endeared to fans for great portrayal by Tom Cavanagh. Does that mean they are out in "The Flash" season 2. As what comic books has learned, no one really dies in superhero shows/books. Don't be surprised if they re-appear once the show resumes.

Shortly after "The Flash" finale, executive producer Andrew Kreisberg confirmed the two will return.

"This wasn't always the plan, but it was always a possibility," said Kreisberg of Eddie's surprise end in an interview with Entertainment Weekly. "When we named Eddie's character and gave him the last name of Thawne, there was a whole subset of the audience that believed he was the Reverse Flash, which was intentional. But then we had to live with: Why did he have that name? One of the sad, surprising things about the finale is that for all the good that Barry does, in the end it's Eddie who saves the day."

As for Tom Cavanagh who gave probably the best performance in the show acting-wise, he is still a regular in "The Flash" season 2.

EW: What does this mean for Tom Cavanagh? Will we actually see him next season, and if so, how?

AK: Tom Cavanagh will continue to be a regular on Flash is all I am prepared to say.

"The Flash" season 2 will air this fall.
