According to George R.R. Martin's novel, "The Gift" is actually a piece of land south of the Wall that was previously granted to the Night's Watch by the rulers of the North.
While, his brothers strongly disagrees with him, Jon Snow has decided to bring the Wildings to "The Gift" where they will be protected from the horrors of the winter.

While Ser Alliser Thorne warns Snow of what the wildings could bring about when he rescues them, the young ruler is determined to take that risk instead of letting them die from the wrath of the white walkers and become vicious killers themselves.
Meanwhile, Stannis Baratheon, who declares himself as the rightful King to the Iron Throne told Ser Davos that it's the perfect time for them to finally take over Winterfell.
"We march to victory or we march to defeat but we go forward," he said in the teaser trailer of "Game of Thrones" season 5 episode 7.
"It has started to snow and Stannis knows that winter is coming. Once it does, his plan to take over the North and later move south to take the Iron Throne could be delayed indefinitely. Time is of the essence and Stannis marches his troops to attack the Boltons in Winterfell.
And while Stannis is ready to conquer Winterfell, Sansa Stark, who was raped by her now husband, Ramsay Bolton during their wedding night, softens up to Theon Greyjoy, who horrifically forced to watch Sansa's raping.
Following Brienne's message to Sansa, will the Lady finally ask for help? Now that remains to be seen in the episodes to follow.
In King's Landing, Queen Margaery and her brother Loras Tyrell are both imprisoned by the High Sparrow who told Lady Olenna, "I serve the gods, the gods demand justice."
Elsewhere, Tyrion Lannister and Jorah Mormont are fighting to stay alive among a group of slavers. They have been captured and taken to the fighting pits. They have to prove their worth and remain alive as they find a way to escape and make their way to Daenerys Targaryen.
