‘America’s Next Top Model’ Creator Tyra Banks Gives Advices On Taking Selfies, Says Models Now Have To Be ‘Skinnier Than Skinny’

The upcoming season of "America's Next Top Model" is arriving this August with a whole new prize package, a different Tyra Banks and a new set of contestants. The host of the modelling reality competition recently said models have to be "skinnier than skinny" and "slimmer than slim."

Is she putting too much pressure on models?

The "America's Next Top Model" creator and host posted on Instagram last week that today's industry is expecting models to do more in order to compete with actresses, recording actresses and reality personalities for magazine covers and ad campaigns.

"Models have so much pressure today. They have to look good on and off the said," Banks wrote. "They have to arrive backstage at fashion shows looking dressed as if they are already on a runway. They have to be slimmer than slim. Skinnier than skinny."

She also revealed on her Instagram that she was size six when she was a young model. She showed a photo of her before a runway show wearing "sneakers, plaid funnel and bad jeans." But she said she made sure to deliver every time she was chosen to walk on the runway.

"[Models] have to have tons of followers on social media to book top notch jobs," said the 41-year-old "America's Next Top Model" host who reportedly booked 25 shows during the 1991 Paris Fashion Week.

She added, "And they have to do selfies that make them look relatable, but not too relatable, because then people may comment that they don't understand, 'Why the heck is that girl a friggin' model?"

It could be remembered that Banks criticized model contestant Denzel Wells during the last season of "America's Next Top Model" because of being too bulky. The host instructed him to shed off some muscle to book more shows and for fashion clothes to fit more on him.

With a new set of prize package and new judges, "America's Next Top Model" Cycle 22 is about to begin this August on The CW.
